A whole LOT of Cards

With all the "drama" and scams etc.. on youtube nowadays its always nice to see something "heartwarming" done. So many rant videos and morons that don't know what they're talking about opening their mouths sometimes makes me just want to stop watching. Though, when i see a video like i did today, it makes me realize there are good people out there on the tube just trying to enjoy the hobby and help others enjoy it. The Very Well known ARPlatium is doing a charity auction for the V foundation on ebay. Now, you may think that He is selling some jersey cards or a few autos, something simple, but this is nothing simple. He is selling base cards. Base cards? Cheap right? Actually its the exact opposite, this man took the time to put more than 50 complete sets together of more than 10,000 plus cards with products like gridiron, certified, rookies and stars, etc.. but thats not even the important part. These sets look so nice I would prefer all of these rather than a John David Booty jersey numbered to 800. He clearly put alot of effort into making and sorting these out, for charity. They are going to be sold as one big lot on the bay, so go check it out, bid on it, get some awesome cards and know you did something to help other people like AR did.

Excluisve Rights- Is it Good?

This past year has been one of the biggest years in our hobby in probably a decade or so. All the exclusive rights being handed out, Panini looking to cash in, and Upperdeck looking to stay in. As most of you have read many opinions in other blogs, it is seeming more and more like people are not happy. That is very understandable. My opinion, this can go 1 of 2 ways. Panini shocked our community when the got the exclusive rights to basketball. Now yes it is going to be tough for you hardcore high end collectors not being able to purchase a 2010-2011 Exquisite, or Ultimate, but we need to give them a chance. So many people have already decided to trash them with the what, 2 releases, now 3 including threads? Cmon now, why don't we give it time, wait for o, say maybe National Treasures Basketball or Absolute, who knows. Also, what is so wrong with Panini using the same name and design for different sports? I wouldn't do it for every product but for some its ok, all companies do it. As a collector, I have always loved a variety of products... BUT, it was starting to get to the point to where there were just some pointless products out there i.e. (timeline baseball, documentary, piece of history, X, etc). The one exclusive right I am a tad worried about is Topps baseball rights, now I love Topps but I sure am going to miss Premier, Sweet Spot, Ultimate, etc. Though I think there are going to be products people will miss from every manufacture, It's just something we are going to have to adapt with. As long as these companies don't try to screw you by releasing a "documentary" like product and charging you 100 bucks for it then it should be ok. I just hope they put out a variety of products, changing it up each year.

Now here is the question, Who do you want to get the exclusive football rights? UD or Panini?

Sports Cards-My Life

As a sports fanatic, sports is about all thats on my mind. As a 17 year old Im just now starting to think about my future and what i want to purse. Of course, I want it to be sports related. I started collecting cards (hardcore) about 2 or so years ago, about when i figured out i had a local card shop, and realized there was a difference between the blaster boxes I was buying at target and the precious hobby boxes. I fell in love instantly. It took me a while to figure out what exactly this "jersey card" was but i thought it was pretty dang cool considering how big i was into just sports memorabilia at the time. Next thing i new i was buying packs and boxes as much as i could trying to pull that "rare" relic. Eventually the "High End" stuff was brought to my attention by watching the videos on youtube. That even blew my mind more, so i started my account (premiersports92) and to this day I am still addicted to the ARplatium videos, chris from the hobby box, etc. Without you guys, my lame life would be even more lame. Though my biggest ispiration to start blogging is Mario from Waxheaven, who recently went on to pursue other things. Reading his blog everyday infomed me about the hobby i love and was able to see many opinions. To make this first long post even longer, basically my goal here is to just talk positively about our hobby unlike all the negative talk that has been around lately. I have such a passion that my "dream" job would be to have my own shop someday though more than likely that wouldnt bring in the money to support a family, so maybe ill try this writing thing. So lets start the POSITIVE card and memorabilia talk (and occasional world news when i feel like ranting).
